HYBRID CAMERA?? NEW NIKON D5100??

THIS IS ME ^^

WHAT IS A COMPACT SYSTEM, OR HYBRID CAMERA???
Both these terms refer to the latest generation of interchangeable-lens cameras, led by brands Panasonic, Olympus and Samsung.
OLYMPUS

HOW ARE THEY SIMILAR TO DIGITAL SLRS???
The hybrids share much of the technology found in DSLRs and the fundamental design, control layouts and features of most are similar. The image sensors and processors used in them are close relatives of those in DSLRs too. The main similarity is that they`re built around the concept of the camera being at the centre of a big system of lenses, flashguns and accessories.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES???
The fundamental difference is the fact that hybrid cameras do not have the reflex mirror found inside a DSLR. This allows hybrids to be designed to be smaller and more lightweight than DSLRs, hence the "Compact System Camera" denomination. It also means that lenses can be smaller too. However, the lack of a mirror means that there is no optical viewfinder, instead you use an LCD monitor or a colour electronic finder to compose the frame. it`s also worth noting that the effective focal length of lenses used with the Micro Four Thirds series of hybrids, including the Panasonic, is 2x, due to the smaller sensor, so a 14-42mm lens is equivalent to a 28-84mm.
